  • Review of Tigermilk in Spitalfields

Tigermilk Spitalfields, located on Crispin Street, brings Latin American dining to East London with gorgeous interiors, flowing cocktails and a menu made for indulgent sharing. The restaurant fits up to 280 guests across an interconnected courtyard, orangery, terrace, and large central dining space. Tropical greenery and warm lighting create a dramatic hacienda-style atmosphere. At the centre sits a six-metre tequila bar lined with over 2,000 bottles. This centrepiece can make cancelling your evening plans feel totally reasonable! Fresh tacos, vibrant salads and smoky grilled dishes arrive at the table almost effortlessly, matching the restaurant’s energetic lunchtime atmosphere. The baby truffle quesadilla was rich but not overly heavy and the sweet potato tacos were fresh, vibrant, and full of flavour (a standout dish, which I highly reccomend). The “Green But Not Boring” salad more than justified its playful name. Peppery rocket, crisp broccoli florets and creamy avocado were lifted by caramelised hazelnuts and a sweet agave vinaigrette. My dining partner choose the Carne Asada, a British-cured beef flank steak that delivers smoky depth and tenderness, paired with a vibrant chimichurri sauce that cuts through the richness perfectly. For dessert I choose the Brioche Perdue, Tigermilk’s decadent take on French toast, it was indulgent dessert, exactly how I like it! Creamy richness with candied hazelnuts, adding crunch and texture. New to Spitalfields, (opened only for three weeks), I can see why it’s creating quite the stir! The food is fresh, vibrant and full of bold flavours, with generous portions, offering excellent value for money. Tigermilk takes its cocktail offering as seriously as its food. Flowing margaritas, smoky mezcal cocktails, and vibrant tropical serves make the drinks menu feel indulgent and designed for long evenings with friends. If your ideal dining out involves bold Latin American flavours, cocktails and interiors dramatic enough to make your camera roll suffer, then Tigermilk Spitalfields deserves a spot on your radar. • BOX Piccadilly Circus Sing-A-Long Bottomless Brunch Review

The Sing Along Brunch at BOX Piccadilly is less about politely clinking glasses over eggs and more about stepping into a full blown daytime party, complete with a banging sound track. Running every Saturday 3pm – 5pm at BOX in Piccadilly Circus, it offers 2 hours of unlimited drinks and a choice of a brunch plate, but more importantly it’s accompanied by group Karaoke with screens around the room and the ability to choose your own track to stand up and sing to. Joining a group table, the energy was already flowing when we arrived at about 3.15pm, prosecco flying everywhere and the host getting everyone hyped up on the mic. Our host explained that there’s a QR code on the tables that lets you queue up your chosen song, which then flashes onto the big screens while you’re handed a microphone and the entire room sings along with you. As the drinks progressed the whole thing turned into a party, with everyone having so much fun and joining in. Standing on chairs, group performances, secret singers having their moment of fame, it honestly was such fun and a great shout for a birthday, hen, or any occasion where you want to get your mates together and truly belly laugh at each other. It’s gloriously extra and turns the whole room into one big, supportive karaoke crowd. Food wise, there’s a selection of brunch and lunch options to choose from. I had the vegan burger, while my friend choose the vegan gyros. Both super tasty but to be honest we ordered quiet near the end where food had become an afterthought, so my suggestion would be to get your food choice in early before you forget about it amidst the madness (and prosecco). We mostly stuck to prosecco, which flowed freely, but there’s a solid cocktail list too. We tried the BOX Iced Tea which was dangerously easy to drink and a classic Aperol Spritz that hit the spot. Overall, it’s loud, lively, and unapologetically camp, the kind of brunch you book when you’re ready to celebrate something, or simply celebrate the weekend itself. Times: Every Saturday, 3pm – 5pm Price: £52 per person Address: BOX Piccadilly Circus, 21, 23 Shaftesbury Ave, Piccadilly Circus, London W1D 7EF For more information click here. • Crust Bros and Cavita team up to celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Crust Bros is back with another limited-edition drop and this time it’s bringing something a little unexpected to the table. Teaming up with modern Mexican favourite Cavita, the Neapolitan pizza group has created a bold new special just in time for Cinco de Mayo. At the centre of the collaboration is the Birria Pizza, a rich and flavour-packed take on the classic base. Built on Crust Bros’ freshly made dough, it’s layered with slow-cooked birria gravy, tender meat, smoked mozzarella and parmesan. It’s then lifted with a fresh pineapple pico de gallo, avocado salsa and a hit of habanero, with a side of birria dipping sauce for the crusts. The idea comes from Cavita’s produce-led approach to Mexican cooking, led by founder Adriana Cavita, whose food is known for blending traditional roots with a more modern style. That influence carries through here, bringing a different depth to Crust Bros’ signature Neapolitan pizzas. At its core, the collaboration is about shared values. Both kitchens are known for focusing on quality ingredients and bold flavour, creating a pizza that is unique. The Birria Pizza will be available at all Crust Bros locations from 28 April for a limited time, priced at £17.20. Written by Stephanie Photo courtesy of Aka Comms

  • Review of Browns Bar & Brasserie

Just outside the hustle and bustle of Victoria Train Station, in the new Cardinal Place, you find the plush but welcoming interiors of Brown’s Restaurant. The large glass exterior lends to the open and light feel of the restaurant, perfect for a bite to eat or drink with colleagues or friends before you journey home. They offer pre theatre menus, which is handy in the location. And if you aren’t theatre bound, the Spring Menu is the perfect way to sample the best they have to offer. With five mains, and four starters and desserts to chose from there is plenty of options from meat, fish and veggie eaters alike. The set menu is offered for £29 for two course, and £35 for three. I tried a Rhubard Martini off the cocktail specials, which was perfectly delicious with a squeeze of tart! Then for starters we opted for the Sticky Hot Honey Chicken & Scottish Mussels. The coriander yoghurt dip was a stand out with the succulent chicken, which was perfectly marinated in honey. For mains the Duo of Lamb was our favourite, with a red wine jus adding the perfect amount of taste, especially alongside the crispy pomme Anna (crispy sliced potatoes!). The Miso glazed salmon gave a more Asian inspired feel, with shimeji mushrooms, soya beans and crispy sushi rice cake. The portions were generous, and we accompanied the meal with a bottle of Gavi white wine, which was crisp and elegant. For dessert we went for the English favourite of Bramley Apple & Rhubarb Crumble, which had the ideal ration of filling to crumble and was accompanied by stem ginger ice cream. I managed to squeeze in a taste of the Belgium Chocolate Mousse, which was decadent. Overall we enjoyed the friendly service, the light and airy space, the modern European flavours with a twist, and the thoughtful but affordable Spring Menu.
