- New pod hotel Otherwander opens in Soho, with stays from £70 per night
A new hospitality concept has arrived in the heart of Soho, offering travellers a modern, design-led alternative to the traditional hotel experience. Now open at 92 Dean Street, Otherwander Soho combines smart technology, compact luxury and a prime location, with stays starting from just £70 per night. Positioned in one of London's most vibrant neighbourhoods, Otherwander is designed for guests who want to spend less time checking in and more time exploring the city. Rather than focusing on large hotel rooms and unnecessary extras, the concept centres around thoughtfully designed sleeping pods known as "nests". Available as either single or double spaces, each nest has been created to maximise comfort and functionality. Guests can expect premium bedding, adjustable lighting and temperature controls, blackout windows, sound-softened walls and integrated storage, creating a peaceful retreat from the energy of Soho outside. Technology plays a key role throughout the experience. From booking to arrival, everything is handled digitally, allowing guests to check in online and access both the building and their pod through a QR-enabled Wanderpass stored on their phone. The result is a seamless stay designed around flexibility and convenience. Location is one of Otherwander Soho's biggest draws. Situated just a short walk from Tottenham Court Road station and the Elizabeth line, guests are perfectly placed to explore London's theatres, restaurants, boutiques, cafés and nightlife. Whether visiting for business, a weekend break or a spontaneous city escape, the property offers an affordable base in the centre of the action. Beyond the sleeping pods, guests have access to a dedicated social hub featuring fresh coffee, pastries, snacks and a self-service bar offering beer, wine and cocktails. Shared facilities have been designed with the same attention to detail, including spa-inspired bathrooms complete with rain showers and dedicated vanity areas. With 566 pods and a concept built around simplicity, efficiency and value, Otherwander Soho aims to redefine what a city stay can look like. And while Soho marks the brand's first London opening, plans are already in place for future expansion into major cities worldwide. Otherwander Soho officially opened on 1 June 2026 and is now welcoming guests! - Review of Kitchen at Holmes in Marylebone
Just a stone’s throw from Baker Street Station, nestled in the affluent Marleybone Village sits a Sherlock Holmes-themed restaurant that invites you to embark on a Mediterranean dining adventure you won’t soon forget. Offering all day dining with breakfast, à la carte dining, weekend brunch, a weekday set lunch offering, and the Sunday roast menu. If you’re in the mood for something a little more relaxed, the bar and terrace are ready to serve up drinks and light bites with a side of people watching. With cosy corners, vintage touches, an alfresco terrace overlooking Baker Street and plenty of character, Kitchen at Holmes feels like the sort of spot where Sherlock himself might pause for a relaxed lunch. Leading the culinary team is Head Chef Stefano Motta, whose Mediterranean-inspired spring and summer menu is a love letter to his nonna’s Sunday table in Northern Italy. After perfecting his skills in Italy, London, and New York, he’s now sprinkling Kitchen at Holmes with Italian hospitality and seasonal flavours. The spring and summer menu showcases Motta’s blend of Mediterranean tradition and modern flair. You’ll find seasonal dishes like saffron fregola with seafood and lobster linguine with sweet tomatoes. The menu is designed for sharing, but the flavours might tempt you to keep everything for yourself. Kitchen at Holmes takes the classic Sunday roast, serving until 3pm on Sundays, and adds Motta’s magic touch and lots of Italian generosity. We just couldn’t resist so we started with crisp zucchini fritters, seasoned with Maldon sea salt and black pepper, and tasty cuttlefish croquettes with Tabasco aioli (our absolute favourite). The roasted half chicken and 56-day-aged beef rump proved the kitchen’s focus on quality and care. With golden roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, rich gravy, and perfectly risen Yorkshire puddings, the portions were so generous and delicious that it felt more like a celebratory feast than just a regular Sunday lunch. We ordered two signature mocktails (The restaurant's spirit-free selection offers plenty of personality). I had the Enola No.2, fruity and tropical, while my dining partner chose the Holmes Made Lemonade with lavender syrup, lemon juice, and soda for a crisp, summery drink. Both were light, tasty, and well-made, a great way to toast a relaxing Sunday afternoon. We couldn’t resist the dessert menu-who could? I went for the tiramisu, which was light, layered, and packed with coffee flavour. My dining partner chose the honey cake with vanilla crème anglaise, a creamy, airy treat. Both desserts were light and delicious, making for a perfect ending to our meal. The food was equally matched by the first-rate service from Glen and Shraddha. Glen's knowledge of the menu and enthusiasm for the restaurant shone through. Shraddha was attentive, friendly and cheerful as she served each dish, creating an atmosphere that was both comfortable and memorable. This summer, Kitchen at Holmes is teaming up with Hackney Gelato for a gelato terrace, build-your-own affogatos, and cocktails with a gelato twist. Naturally, we tried every flavour in the name of research. Pistachio stole my heart, while my dinning partner loved Cookies & Cream. Any hope of self-control melted faster than the gelato. - Romeo & Juliet is coming to Brixton Windmill
The Dot Collective has teamed up with Open Bar Theatre, both celebrating 10 wonderful years of bringing professional open-air performances to community spaces. They are reuniting for Shakespeare's most celebrated classic love story, Romeo and Juliet and they've chosen the perfect setting for it. Staged in the shadow of the Brixton windmill on a warm July evening, this production places Romeo and Juliet inside the colour and chaos of a 16th-century Italian carnival, with live atmosphere, immersive staging and the kind of theatrical energy that only outdoor performance can sustain. As the light fades and the story unfolds, the windmill itself becomes part of the spectacle. "These violent delights have violent ends" — but the evening itself promises something altogether more joyful. It's designed to be an occasion as much as a show. Bring a picnic, grab an ice cream from the on-site café, and settle in for 90 minutes of passion, drama and midsummer magic, with a 20-minute interval to top up your drink. Recommended for ages 5+. Accessible. Well-behaved dogs on leads welcome. - Review of nhow London in Shoreditch
If you're staying in Shoreditch, it feels only right to choose a hotel that reflects the neighbourhood's creative energy and artistic spirit. Enter nhow London, a vibrant, design-led hotel just a short walk from Old Street Station that effortlessly combines bold style, comfort, personality, and exceptional hospitality. From the moment I arrived, I knew this wasn't going to be an ordinary hotel stay. nhow London fully embraces the eclectic character of East London, blending contemporary art, playful British influences, and striking interiors to create a space that feels both exciting and welcoming. Every corner has been thoughtfully curated, making the hotel feel more like an immersive art gallery than a traditional city hotel. We received a warm and friendly welcome at reception and were quickly on our way up to the fifth floor to discover our room. Even the corridors at nhow are far from ordinary. While many hotels are guilty of long, uninspiring hallways, nhow has transformed theirs into part of the experience. Each guest room door is designed to resemble a classic London front door, complete with a doorbell and doorknob, all painted in vibrant colours. Before you've even stepped inside your room, you're already excited!. It's these playful details that make the hotel so memorable. The Rooms The rooms strike the perfect balance between contemporary comfort and creative flair, offering everything needed for a relaxing city break. I was fortunate enough to stay in one of the hotel's Junior Suites, and it was an absolute delight. The suite featured a luxurious king-size bed, a separate living area, and a stunning elongated entrance hallway lined with floor-to-ceiling windows. This space also housed a stylish workstation, making it ideal for anyone needing to catch up on a little work during their stay. Inside, eye-catching artwork and statement furniture create a visually exciting space that stimulates the senses without ever feeling overwhelming. Every detail feels intentional, resulting in a room that is both stylish, artistic and and comfortable. I found myself constantly admiring the design elements and discovering new details throughout our stay. Comfort certainly wasn't sacrificed for style. The bed was comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep, while the living room sofa conveniently converted into a sofa bed, perfect for our toddler, who settled in both evenings nicely. The food The hotel’s restaurant, Guilty London, perfectly reflects the hotel's playful and contemporary spirit. Taking centre stage is a striking giant Big Ben rocket installation, an eye-catching feature that proved a huge hit with children, especially my toddler, who was completely captivated by it. For my main course, I chose the fish and chips. The fish was beautifully cooked, encased in a crisp, golden batter that gave way to tender, flaky flesh. Served alongside a generous helping of chunky chips, it was a hearty and satisfying dish. If you’re planning to order it, be sure to arrive with a healthy appetite. Service The staff were consistently warm, professional, and attentive, creating a genuine sense of hospitality from check-in to check-out. Every interaction was met with friendliness and efficiency, and nothing ever felt too much trouble. It's the kind of service that makes guests feel genuinely valued and leaves a lasting impression long after they've left. Location The hotel's location is another standout feature. Situated within easy reach of Shoreditch's buzzing cultural scene, independent boutiques, restaurants, cafés, and nightlife, nhow London provides the perfect base for exploring one of the capital's most vibrant neighbourhoods. Whether you're visiting for business, leisure, or a family city break, everything you could want is right on your doorstep. Final Thoughts nhow London offers far more than simply a place to stay. It delivers an experience, one that's creative, comfortable, and full of personality. From its imaginative design and spacious rooms to its excellent service and prime location, it captures the essence of Shoreditch perfectly. If you're looking for a hotel that dares to be different while still delivering all the comforts of a luxury stay, nhow London should be firmly on your list.
