Covent Garden is getting a taste of the Mediterranean this summer, with a free gelato pop-up landing at The Yards for two weekends in June.
As part of its six-week Med in The Yards celebration, The Yards Covent Garden has teamed up with legendary Italian gelato makers Badiani to launch Scoop The Yards, a limited-edition pop-up serving complimentary sweet and savoury gelato samples.
Taking place from 1pm–6pm on 13–14 June and 20–21 June, the pop-up will be found in St Martin's Courtyard, outside Brother Marcus, where visitors can sample four exclusive Mediterranean-inspired flavours created especially for the event.
The menu includes two savoury options – Cacio e Pepe, inspired by the classic Roman pasta dish, and Pomodoro & Basil, alongside sweet summer flavours Olive Oil & Sea Salt and Lemon & Basil. Each visitor will receive a bite-sized tasting pot, with samples available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The free pop-up is the headline event of Med in The Yards, a seasonal campaign celebrating alfresco dining and Riviera-inspired living in the heart of London. Throughout the summer, The Yards will be transformed with yellow-and-white striped décor, deckchairs and Mediterranean styling, creating a holiday atmosphere without leaving the city.
Alongside the gelato giveaway, visitors can make the most of seasonal menus, happy hours and special offers from restaurants and retailers across the neighbourhood. Highlights include Mediterranean-inspired dishes and drinks at Dishoom, Le Bab, Dalla Terra and Oriole, summer happy hours at Lahpet, and outdoor pints at the newly opened Guinness Open Gate Brewery London. Whether you're planning a day out in Covent Garden or simply looking for a free foodie event, this is one summer pop-up worth adding to your calendar.
