Al Fresco season has arrived: London's best outdoor dining spots for summer 2026

With temperatures set to climb across London next week, al fresco season is finally returning to the capital. From canal-side food markets and fresh pasta by the water to riverside seafood feasts and Martini terraces, these are the spots worth seeking out when the sunshine arrives.

Just moments from London Bridge Station, Vinegar Yard remains one of London's favourite open-air social hubs. Blending street food, drinks, vintage shopping and art installations, the venue comes alive during the warmer months. Food traders include Nanny Bills, Japanese Chicken Shop and Taco Collective, while the expansive terrace and covered seating make it an easy choice for relaxed gatherings with friends. Hawksmoor has stepped outdoors with the launch of The Hawksmoor Martini Terrace at St Pancras. Highlights include the savoury Steakhouse Martini, the ultra-premium Deluxe Martini made with Grey Goose Altius and refreshing serves such as the Melon Deuce and Ultimate Vodka Soda. Guests ordering selected Martinis can even unlock mystery prize boxes hidden behind the bar. For more information, click here

Sea Containers Summer Terrace, South Bank

Bringing a touch of the French Riviera to the Thames, Sea Containers' Summer Terrace is one of London's most scenic summer destinations. Designed for long lunches, sunset cocktails and leisurely weekend brunches, the riverside terrace serves oysters, ceviche and signature seafood towers alongside cocktails including the Cucumber Fizz, Wet Martini Cocktail and Southside. With uninterrupted water views, it offers a welcome escape from the city bustle. For more information, click here

Emilia's Crafted Pasta, Canary Whard & St Katharine Docks

Emilia's Crafted Pasta is embracing al fresco season across its London restaurants, with standout waterside terraces at Wood Wharf in Canary Wharf and St Katharine Docks. Additional terraces at Baker Street and Victoria offer equally appealing options for sunny lunches and after-work dinners. For more information, click here

Hackney Bridge, Hackney Wick

Set alongside the canal in East London, Hackney Bridge offers one of the city's most vibrant al fresco destinations. Home to traders including Bovine, Filigrillz, Made in Puglia and Mex Club, the sprawling venue combines landscaped gardens, communal tables and a packed programme of live music, BBQ pop-ups and outdoor cinema screenings throughout the season.
