The Stage Launches Immersive Pop-Up Featuring Gary James McQueen

Shoreditch’s landmark multi-use development, The Stage, proudly presents a brand-new immersive pop-up exhibition by acclaimed artist Gary James McQueen, nephew and former collaborator of the legendary fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

This limited exhibition, invites visitors to experience McQueen’s captivating world, where cutting-edge digital techniques meet rich, emotional storytelling. Each piece explores themes of transformation, resilience, and the beauty within darkness, and showcases new lenticular artworks alongside  favourites from McQueen’s portfolio.

Inspired by Tibetan symbolism is the exhibition of Talisman Skulls, one of McQueen’s most significant series. The skull which is often a reminder of mortality is reimagined as a powerful emblem of resilience, luck and spiritual endurance. For the first time,  four new interpretations of the Kintsugi Skull will be on display ahead of their official release later this year. Other featured works include Savage Beauty, Eternal Bloom, and Flayed Angel.

Gary’s work combines avant-garde aesthetics with cinematic influences and bold storytelling. Elements of fantasy and horror—films like An American Werewolf in London and Legend—continue to inform his dramatic, otherworldly visual language.

This Shoreditch pop-up located on the site of Shakespeare’s original Curtain Theatre, The Stage is a transformative 2.3-acre development featuring a 37-storey residential tower, over 60,000 sq ft of retail and dining, two office buildings, and expansive public spaces.

Exhibition Dates & Hours: Monday to Friday, 10am–4pm

Attendance is by appointment only, email Ilana to book in a viewing - ilana.magar@garyjamesmcqueen.com
