Escape to the French Riviera: Free immersive art experience comes to the Royal Academy of Arts
Fancy a Mediterranean escape without leaving London? This October, Art of London is bringing the sunshine, colour and creative spirit of the French Riviera to the capital with Step into the French Riviera, a free immersive art experience created in partnership with the Royal Academy of Arts. Running from 6th to 25th October, the experience will transform locations across Piccadilly Circus, Jermyn Street and Mayfair into a vibrant outdoor art trail, inviting visitors to step inside some of the most celebrated artworks inspired by the French Riviera.
Drawing inspiration from the Royal Academy's forthcoming exhibition, Painting the French Riviera, three artworks will be reimagined as larger-than-life installations. Expect colourful coastal scenes inspired by Raoul Dufy and André Derain, alongside an immersive world celebrating Yves Klein's iconic International Klein Blue. Combining colour, sound and scent, the installations promise a multi-sensory journey through the Mediterranean, offering plenty of Instagram-worthy moments along the way.
Beyond the artworks, visitors can discover a wider Riviera-inspired programme of dining, shopping and cultural experiences across the West End, making it an ideal excuse to spend an afternoon exploring the neighbourhood. Whether you're an art enthusiast, searching for a free London activity or simply dreaming of sunnier shores as autumn arrives, this colourful cultural takeover offers a little taste of the South of France without the airfare.
Step Into the French Riviera runs from 6th to 25th October 2026 across Piccadilly Circus, Jermyn Street and Mayfair. Entry is free.
