Review of FIGO in Stratford

A well-known spot in Stratford, FIGO is a quintessentially Italian restaurant which blends tradition with modern flair, offering a carefully crafted menu that showcases the diverse Italian regions. The outside is inviting and as we walk in we marvel at the decor! Beautiful marble tables, statement big trees dotted about and a stunning back-lit bar.

We started off with a couple of spicy margaritas which had just the right level of spice and a boozy kick, for starters we opted for the Calamari; Deep fried squid, tartare sauce and lemon and the Burrata; Creamy Italian cheese with roasted peach, orange, pistachio crumble and basil oil. Super generous portions perfect for sharing, the burrata was visually very impressive served with beautiful fresh fruit and vegetables and huge piece of cheese.

For our mains I had Pasta De La Nonna; Fresh napolitana tube pasta with aubergine, tomato, ricotta cheese and pistachio. Giant pasta tubes gave a great sauce to pasta ratio and the tanginess of the tomatoes were perfectly balanced by the mild flavours of the ricotta.

My guest opted for the Filetto Di Spigola; Pan-seared Seabass, courgette puree, chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, pine nuts, olives, and roasted potatoes. Soft flaky fish and perfectly crisp on the outside, a delightful choice, which she happily devoured.

Finishing with a tiramisu and chocolate tarte for dessert, both were delicious, I always think a good tiramisu is a must in an Italian restaurant and this one was truly exceptional, a mountain of perfectly whipped cream and delicate coffee finishing.

A wonderful spot for shoppers or Stratford locals, FIGO Stratford is a great shout for the Italian lovers out there, with a huge selection covering all the pasta and pizza bases. A special mention goes to the attentive and friendly waitstaff, whose warm service added to the authentic Italian hospitality vibe.
