Vikings: The Immersive Experience is landing at Dock X this March

This March, London welcomes a powerful new cultural attraction -Vikings: The Immersive Experience landing at Dock X. Far more than a battle-led retelling, this ambitious exhibition offers an emotional and educational journey into the heart of Viking society, centred on one of its most influential dynasties. Visitors are invited to step inside the world of King Ragnar Lodbrok, Queen Kraka (Aslaug) and their legendary sons, including Ivar the Boneless and Bjorn Ironside.

Blending large-scale physical sets with cutting-edge technology, the experience unfolds across richly detailed environments designed to fully immerse guests in the Viking age. Highlights include a dramatic forest-style discovery space and a towering mythological Yggdrasil, also known as the World Tree, brought to life through light, sound and projection. High-resolution video mapping, virtual reality and a sweeping cinematic score combine to transport visitors back to 9th-century Scandinavia and the lands the Vikings once explored and conquered.

A defining feature of the exhibition is its focus on Queen Kraka, whose wisdom, foresight and spiritual power are often overshadowed in popular history. Through storytelling and immersive visuals, visitors follow her journey from hidden royal lineage to revered völva, revealing the pivotal role she played in shaping one of the most feared families of the North.

The experience culminates in a striking 360-degree cinematic presentation set around a real Viking longship, guiding audiences through a tale of love, fate, vengeance and legacy. Accessible, multi-sensory and thoughtfully designed, Vikings: The Immersive Experience will appeal to history lovers, families, school groups and fans of Vikings alike.

Tickets start from £19 for children and £23 for adults, with concessions and VIP options available. Public opening on 13th March 2026.

Address: Dock X, Unit 1 Canada Water, Surrey Quays Rd, London, SE16 2XU

Hawksmoor Wood Wharf – Review

Earlier this year, the acclaimed and much loved steak restaurant Hawksmoor, unveiled its impressive new venue. On the water of Canary Wharf’s Wood Wharf, the impressive eco-friendly pavilion is a sight to see, it’s twinkling lights reflecting in the water. The new venue includes terraces with waterside views from both the restaurant and the 120 seat downstairs bar, the Lowback.

The restaurant interior has all the mid-century sophistication we’ve come to expect from Hawksmoor, with plush green leather seating, wooden panelling, low hanging textured glass lighting and accents of antique brass. The inviting bar tempts the early birds to hop onto one of its green leather stools and order an expertly crafted cocktail from their extensive drinks menu. Upstairs, groups of up to 20 can enjoy a private dining area named after local legend, singer, and self-confessed bawdy landlady Queenie Watts.

First and foremost, Hawksmoor is a steakhouse, and it’s no longer a secret that they serve up some of the best steaks around in the most sustainable way. The menu includes their favourite cuts of ribeye, sirloin, fillet and rump, alongside a variety of other land and sea-inspired mains.

The bone marrow and onions starter with sourdough toast was a delightful start to the meal. The rich and buttery spread, served in its very own bone topped with sweet onion, was spread across delicious sourdough.

The beautifully marbled meat of ribeye is always a draw for me and true to form, Hawksmoor delivered. The slightly blackened, salty crust easily gave way to its tender and deep pink middle, full of the flavours that ribeye provides. A rich and glossy bone marrow gravy is perfect to drizzle over the tasty steak, triple cooked chips and buttered greens.

Sat on a plush green leather sofa, it was only fitting to choose The Ambassador, Femmes de Virunga 70% chocolate, caramel and hazelnuts. Presented like a beautiful piece of art, this chocolatey piece of heaven is sweet, decadent and moreish in a way that only guests at the ambassador’s party would understand, a perfect finish to an incredible meal. The service was top notch, the staff were knowledgable, friendly and attentive, the team here have mastered the perfect dining experience for guests, and I’ll certainly be back!

Hawksmoor also offers up an Express menu with two-courses for £24 and three courses for £28 and if you fancy heading over there on a Sunday, don’t miss out on their Sunday roast offering, you won’t be disappointed.

Address: 1 Water Street, London E14 5GX
