Gordon Ramsay’s olive oil has just strutted onto Waitrose shelves

Olive oil is one of those kitchen staples we all have lurking at the back of the cupboard, but let’s be honest, it’s not usually the star of the show. Krude is here to shake things up. Co-founded by Gordon Ramsay, Ben Caring and Elle Caring, this premium extra virgin olive oil has just bagged its first big supermarket gig, landing its signature bottles in over 300 Waitrose stores across the UK.

There are two bottles you won’t forget in a hurry: Cook Me Nude and Finish Me Nude. Yes, they sound like instructions that might get you a few funny looks from the neighbours, but each one is made for a different kitchen mission. Cook Me Nude is your go-to for sizzling and sautéing, while Finish Me Nude is the one to grab when your pasta, salad, soup or sourdough needs that final glossy glow-up. It’s basically the foodie version of applying your favouirte lippie before heading out.

Krude oils are made from early-harvest olives grown on family farms in sunny Spain, promising big flavour and super-fresh vibes. The bottles are cleverly designed to keep the oil safe from anything that might ruin its mojo, so it arrives from Spanish grove to your kitchen in tip-top shape. Getting into Waitrose is a big win for this up-and-coming brand, making it easy for anyone who takes their pantry game seriously to grab a chef-approved bottle. The best part? You can now get your hands on Gordon Ramsay’s olive oil without having to survive a kitchen meltdown or get yelled at for your scallops.

Krude is on a mission to make us stop treating olive oil like a background extra and start noticing its flavour, origins and freshness. With its cheeky branding, Spanish roots and a Michelin-starred co-founder, it definitely knows how to steal the spotlight.

A Modern Indian Gem in Mayfair - Manthan review

May 31, 2024
2 min read

Situated in the heart of Mayfair, Manthan is the invention of celebrated chefs Rohit Ghai and Abhishake Sangwan. This modern Indian restaurant offers a unique blend of innovative cuisine and expertly crafted cocktails, all set within the stunning, vibrant ambience of a Maddox Street townhouse.

The culinary journey began with the Artichoke Tikki, a crispy Jerusalem cake paired with pickle and strawberry chutney. The combination of textures and flavours was a delightful surprise. The crisp exterior of the tikki, combined with the tangy pickle and the sweetness of the strawberry chutney, created a harmonious blend that set a high bar for the rest of the meal.

Next, the Ghati Masala Prawns, coated in sesame, peanut, coconut, and chilli, full of flavour, perfectly balancing heat and nuttiness. The dish was a testament to Manthan's ability to elevate traditional Indian flavours with a modern twist.

For the main course, my dining partner went for the Lamb Chops, a stand out dish. Cooked to perfection, the succulent chops were seasoned with Indian onion, royal cumin, and mint, creating a dish that was both aromatic and flavourful. The tenderness of the meat, combined with the seasoning, made this a truly unforgettable dish.

Equally impressive was the Bharli Vangi which I opted for, featuring baby eggplant stuffed with poppy seeds and black spice. The eggplant was tender and the stuffing added a depth of spice that was both intriguing and satisfying.

The sides complemented the mains beautifully. The Basmati Rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked, serving as an ideal base for the rich flavours of the main dishes. The Poppadums & Chutneys provided a delightful crunch and a variety of tangy, spicy, and sweet flavours that enhanced the meal.

To finish, the dessert selection was nothing short of spectacular and we had to try two of them. The Anjeer Kheer, a chilled fig rice pudding, was creamy and subtly sweet, offering a refreshing end to the meal. The Kulfi, with its rich and creamy texture, was a decadent treat. The Classical Trio—comprising of Besan Laddoo, Gulab Jamun, and Srikhand—was a perfect nod to traditional Indian sweets, each piece offering a burst of authentic flavours and a satisfying conclusion to the dining experience.

In conclusion, Manthan in Mayfair is a culinary destination that promises and delivers an extraordinary dining experience. From the innovative starters to the sumptuous mains and delightful desserts, every dish is a testament to the chefs' creativity and expertise. Whether you're a connoisseur of Indian cuisine or a curious foodie, Manthan is sure to leave a lasting impression.
