Just a few minutes from Chalk Farm station, tucked behind the buzz of Camden High Street, you’ll find North Yard, a cobbled courtyard where old stables now hum with the sounds of clinking glasses, sizzling pans and banter. It’s Camden through and through: creative, independent, a little unexpected, and full of flavour.
Housed within Grade II-listed buildings, North Yard brings together an eclectic mix of restaurants, pubs, and bars that celebrate individuality. It’s the kind of place that suits every mood, after-work drinks, long Sunday lunches, or a spontaneous cocktail stop mid-market wander. With generous outdoor seating and a lively crowd, it’s a spot that is always humming with Camden attitude.
Where to Eat and Drink in North Yard

The Dark Horse
More than just your local pub, The Dark Horse blends classic comfort with a bit of Camden edge. Think refined British dishes, bangers and mash, proper pies, hearty roasts, alongside cocktails worth lingering over. Add in live music, occasional surprise gigs, and a warm, easy-going vibe.
Upstairs, the terrace offers wood-fired pizzas, small plates, and cocktails, best enjoyed at sunset with a view over Camden’s rooftops.
The Dark Horse has collaborated with Chef Rahel Stephanie (aka Eat with Sp00ns) to treat diners with sticky sambal wings and juicy köfte burgers thanks to Hasan Semay (Big Has). It's comfort food with flair.

Pick & Cheese
This playful restaurant puts British and Irish cheeses on centre stage, literally, with a conveyor belt of over 25 rotating small plates paired with natural wines. It’s equal parts fun and refined, and Claire Dinhut's (Condiment Claire) limited-edition doughnut with goats cheese is a reason enough to stop by this season. A playflu creation that works!
Humble Crumble
A modern take on the British classic, Humble Crumble is pure comfort food in a cup. Build your own pud with layers of fruit, shortbread, sweeties and gooey custard to taste.

Ester
For a relaxed drink, Ester hits the mark. Expect creative cocktails served by entertaining bar staff along with sassy spirits, natural wines, and small-batch beers, including one brewed at Camden’s at 3 Locks Brewery.

Hans & Gretel
A gelateria meets sweet shop straight from Wonka’s factory. Freshly made gelato, hot chimney cakes, and nostalgic sweets make this a treat for both kids and grown-ups with a sweet tooth.
