  • Award winning Immersive theatre DARKFIELD is back in Canary Wharf

Canary Wharf has a new limited-time attraction for those who want to get their thrill on. DARKFIELD is hard to describe.  Part experience, part hallucination, expect to be catapulted into new worlds while you’re inside a specially kitted out shipping container thanks to the binaural 360-degree sound, custom hydraulics and your own brain. Three experiences await you at Canary Wharf, go to one or all three as they’re about 30-40 minutes long and are all a mix between introspection and scare fests! Dubbed ‘Coma’, ‘Eulogy’ and ‘Flight’, each offers you a completely different immersion thanks to the different technologies used. ‘COMA’: Imagine the moment of waking up is actually the moment when your dream begins. In light of this new and strange reality, how can we save you from the unspeakable horrors which lurk in the dark recesses of your mind? The only cure we offer is a placebo and a promise. Just remember when you leave to take your body with you. ‘EULOGY’: A surreal, otherworldly journey through a dreamlike, labyrinthine hotel that exists entirely in your mind. How you arrived is a mystery and why you’re there remains unclear. Make sure you read the pamphlet… ‘FLIGHT’: Ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to direct your attention to the onboard safety demonstration and ask that you give us your full attention. In the unlikely event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, alternative scenarios will be provided. Next of kin will be provided. Additional desserts will be provided. An extra pillow. Trumpets and gongs. Neither Heaven nor Hell is assured. We’re not responsible for your final destination. DARKFIELD has been featured in major film festivals such as the BFI London Film Festival, Venice International Film Festival, IDFA, Tribeca Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival, SXSW and in 2021 won Columbia’s Digital Storytelling Lab’s Breakthrough Award in recognition of the year’s most innovative narrative. We won’t spoil any of the surprises that await you. Suffice it to say you won’t be disappointed whether you choose to lay in your own bunk, jump in your custom-designed shopping trolley or sit upright with your tray table sec. Darkfield is open until Sunday 23rd October and various times are available between 12pm – 8.30pm.
