- Cointreau launches a tropical terrace at Nebula – Review
East London neighbourhood pizza and cocktail bar, Nebula has teamed up with Cointreau to launch a Tropical Margarita Terrace in the heart of Hackney for the summer months. The modern venue has a large bar and terrace area where visitors can crush their own margaritas by cycling on Cointreau’s Slushy Margarita Bikes before tucking into 12-inch pizzas! Nebula’s new menu includes The Original Margarita as well as an ice-cold Frozen Margarita alongside four new cocktails; including Summer on Venus, made with Cointreau, watermelon, lime and tequila, Nintendo Margarita, with Cointreau, tequila, agave and lime served on the rocks, Parsec Paloma, a summery take on the classic with Cointreau, grapefruit soda, tequila and basil, and a Café Negroni, a heady mix of Cointreau, coffee, bitters, vermouth and tequila. We visited for some Margaritas on the Wednesday of the Jubilee weekend, and when we arrived there was a lovely atmosphere and a few large groups sitting on the terrace. The colour scheme of the terrace is the Contriau orange with orange blooms in the flower beds between the tables and orange blankets on the back of the chairs for cooler evenings. We ordered a cocktail each; the classic margs – tequila + Cointreau + lime + salt, and the parsec paloma – tequila + cointreau + pink grapefruit soda. Both cocktails cost £9, which is really reasonable for a proper cocktail in London. The classic margs can be served two ways – crushed by the bar, or for the more adventurous visitors, you can receive the cocktail in a blender, and then cycle on one of the Contriau bikes to crush your own cocktail. I’d recommend this – it’s very fun! To accompany our cocktails, we both ordered a pizza; they have a great selection of veggie and vegan options! We ordered a planetary pineapple – chilli pickled pineapple, ham and a tabasco sriracha invasion and a green vader (a vegan pizza) topped with vegan cheese, roasted broccoli, roasted courgette and our own vegan pesto – both costing £10.50, again very reasonable for a large pizza. Nebula’s a really enjoyable venue with a friendly vibe and great staff, food and drinks. It’s certainly worth a visit the next time you’re in East London. On Tuesdays, Nebula offers unlimited pizza and a negroni for £10 per person, which is a big hit!
