Temple Station rooftop transformed by internationally-renowned artist LAKWENA
Co-commission by 180 Studios and in partnership with Westminster City Council Back in the Air: A Meditation on Higher Ground by LAKWENA has now launched, and will be running until 30 April 2022, on London’s Temple Underground stations roof!
This is the first time since it was built in 1870 by Sir Joseph Bazalgette that the half-acre roof terrace on top of Temple Underground Station between the Thames and the Strand has come to life.

Titled ‘The Artist’s Garden’, the al fresco installation is the result of four years in the making, the fruits of London based artist Lakwena Maciver’s labour. Invisible from the street, it offers unparalleled views of London, reaching cross the River Thames and South Bank, alongside intensely coloured, geometric, and immersive floor-spaces, a creative paradise hidden in the depths of the city’s belly.
