Step inside a world of colour and light as Luminarium: Myriad opens in April
London will welcome a striking immersive art experience this spring as Luminarium: Myriad opens in the capital for the first time at Woolwich Works. Running from Tuesday 2nd April to Monday 6th April 2026, the monumental inflatable sculpture arrives just in time for the Easter holidays, inviting visitors to step inside a world defined by light, colour, and architectural form.
Created by the internationally acclaimed Architects of Air and founder Alan Parkinson, Luminarium: Myriad is a sensory journey designed for all ages. Inspired by points of light in the night sky, the installation evokes a feeling of infinity and movement, with each visit offering a unique and ever-changing experience.
Inside the structure, visitors can wander through winding tunnels, pass beneath soaring domes, and explore interconnected chambers bathed in radiant colour. Natural daylight filters through translucent coloured PVC, creating shifting patterns that transform the space throughout the day. A subtle ambient soundtrack enhances the experience, contributing to a calm, welcoming environment that encourages curiosity, play and reflection.
Guests are free to explore at their own pace, whether moving through the entire structure together or pausing to sit or lie down in quieter corners. Open exclusively during daylight hours and using only natural light, the Luminarium offers an energising experience for children and a soothing, almost meditative quality for adults, creating a rare sense of escape from the city outside.
Ideal for families, friends, and multi-generational visits, Luminarium: Myriad is fully accessible to wheelchair users and suitable for all ages. There are no flashing lights or artificial lighting, making it welcoming for visitors with added needs. Each visit lasts twenty to thirty minutes, with new visual discoveries revealed at every turn.
Handcrafted over four months by a dedicated team of five, the half-football-pitch-sized structure draws inspiration from Islamic and Gothic architecture, alongside organic forms found in nature. Working like a contemporary version of stained glass, Myriad transforms light into an architectural material, offering an unforgettable journey through colour, space, and shared wonder.
