Battle Brewery creates exclusive Bayeux lager for the British Museum 

To mark the opening of the Bayeux Tapestry Exhibition at the British Museum on 10 September 2026, Battle Brewery and the British Museum are collaborating with the launch of Bayeux Lager; a limited edition beer brewed just a few miles from the site of the Battle of Hastings.

The Bayeux Tapestry tells the story of the Norman Conquest and the Battle of Hastings, while Battle Brewery is based in the historic East Sussex town of Battle, which grew around the battlefield itself.

More than 950 years after those events changed the course of British history, visitors to the exhibition will have the chance to enjoy a beer inspired by the story, and brewed in the landscape where it unfolded.

Launching exclusively at the British Museum this September, Bayeux Lager will be the museum’s leading beer, alongside a selection of other Battle Brewery beers. Guests can enjoy it across the museum’s food and beverage outlets, while a bespoke gift box will also be available in the retail shops for those looking to take a taste of the exhibition home.

Described as clean, crisp and refreshing, Bayeux Lager is a classic Pilsner-style beer brewed with Saaz, Tettnang and Mittelfrüh hops. The combination brings the elegant, aromatic character associated with traditional noble hops, balanced by low bitterness and a smooth Pilsner malt finish.
