Art After Dark: London’s West End Transforms into an Intergalactic Playground
London’s most thrilling after-hours arts programme, Art After Dark, is set to return from 6th to 8th March 2025, promising a spectacular fusion of art, science, and space exploration. Led by the award winning “Willy Wonka of design and science” artist Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian, this year’s event will see London’s West End morph into a cosmic wonderland, free for all to explore.
Timed perfectly before March 29th solar eclipse, Art After Dark will offer an unmissable trail of galactical experiences, bringing the mysteries of the universe to the heart of the city.
Some of the highlights include:
Asteroid-Sized Moon Rocks & Giant Cats - Piccadilly Circus will be transformed with colossal, glowing moon rocks, alongside giant fluorescent cat sculptures inspired by the famous Schrödinger’s cat experiment.
Public Stargazing Sessions State of the art telescopes will be strategically placed across the West End, allowing the public to gaze into space alongside professional astronomers.
Sounds Bounced Off the Moon – In an awe-inspiring sonic experiment, sounds recorded from the West End, including the heartbeats of Ben Hayoun-Stépanian’s own family, will be transmitted to the moon and back, culminating in an atmospheric audio broadcast in Piccadilly Circus.
Late Night Gallery Hops & Space Themed Events - Some of London’s most renowned cultural institutions, including the Royal Academy of Arts, National Gallery, and National Portrait Gallery, will host exclusive late night openings, interactive workshops, and space-inspired exhibitions.
Coinciding with International Women’s Day on 8th March, the event will also celebrate the talents of female and non-binary artists, musicians, and scientists, shining a spotlight on innovation at the intersection of art and space science.
So, save the dates and immerse yourself in a cosmic experience that is out of this world.
