Review of Park Chinois in Mayfair

Dining at Park Chinois feels like stepping into another side of London. Hidden away on Berkeley Street in Mayfair, the restaurant strikes a rare balance between glamour and intimacy. The décor is rich and beautifully considered, setting the tone for an evening that feels indulgent yet relaxed. What truly stands out, though, is the service, warm, intuitive, and faultlessly attentive from start to finish.

We began with a generous selection of appetisers, the crispy chilli chicken delivered the perfect crunch, with Szechuan peppers bringing a gentle, lingering heat. The chef’s selection of vegetarian dim sum with a diverse selection of flavours was a real treat and the crispy duck roll rounded things off beautifully, rich and satisfying without feeling heavy.

For the mains we had the crispy satay chicken, which was bold and full of flavour, coated in a spicy peanut and tamarind sauce that balanced sweetness and heat perfectly. What I loved most about this plate was the amount of sauce served with it, divine! The steamed sea bass was a showstopper, finished with spring onions, crispy ginger, and soy sauce. The stir-fried spicy noodles brought warmth and energy to the table, mixed with chicken and vegetables. The Yangzhou fried rice with corn-fed chicken and king prawn was fragrant, generous, and deeply comforting.

For dessert we choose The Park Chinois apple tarte, which was elegant and indulgent, built on a fine layer of crisp puff pastry with pastry cream, caramelised apple, white chocolate cream, and custard. Rich but balanced, it was the ideal way to end the meal.

Park Chinois delivers on every level: food that is bold and full of flavour, service that elevates the experience, and an interior that feels like a luxurious Chinese house. It’s the kind of restaurant that makes an evening feel special without trying too hard, and one you’d happily return to.
