Review of Chatora City

Chatora City is a well known spot located in the heart of the city, combining contemporary Indian cuisine with a menu that celebrates both traditional flavours and modern creativity. Stylish interiors and a warm, vibrant atmosphere, on a Thursday evening there was a mix of after workers and groups of friends, making for a relaxed yet buzzy setting.

We explored the vegetarian offerings, the menu offers a decent range of options, with the restaurant also offering a fully vegan menu. Enjoying complimentary poppadom’s (multiple types which was already a step above what we were usually used to), alongside a Burnt Chilli Margarita which I can honestly say was the best spicy margarita I’d had in years, we were already off to a great start before even starting our meal.

We began with the Avo-Berry Chaat, Honey-Chilli Cauliflower and Kalonji Paneer Tikka. The standout starter was undoubtedly the Avo-Berry Chaat. It was a true work of art, balancing creamy avocado, sweet berries, tangy chutneys, and crisp textures to create a dish that was as stunning to look at as it was to eat. The Honey-Chilli Cauliflower delivered just the right amount of sweetness and heat, while the Kalonji Paneer Tikka was beautifully charred, wonderfully spiced and incredibly moreish.

For the mains, we had the Organic Jackfruit Biryani, Baigan Mirchi Ka Saalan and Chatora Black Dal. The Organic Jackfruit Biryani was something genuinely special. Served encased in delicate pastry, breaking through the crisp shell revealed fragrant rice and tender jackfruit infused with aromatic spices; a creative and memorable take on a vegetarian biryani. Paired with the rich, nutty Baigan Mirchi Ka Saalan and the slow cooked, velvety Chatora Black Dal, every bite was comforting and deeply satisfying. What impressed us most was that none of the vegetarian dishes felt like an afterthought. Each one had its own identity and showcased the same level of care, flavour and innovation found throughout the menu.

Service throughout the evening was friendly, attentive and accommodating. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Jamshed, who took the time to chat with us about his recommendations and could be seen moving around the restaurant, speaking with guests and bringing laughter to tables throughout the evening. That genuine presence and personal touch added a truly special level of care and hospitality, making the experience feel much more than just a meal.

Chatora City offers far more than excellent food; it delivers genuine hospitality, a welcoming atmosphere and a memorable dining experience. Whether you're a vegetarian or simply appreciate modern Indian cooking done exceptionally well, it's a restaurant that's well worth visiting. We'll certainly be back to explore more of the menu.
