Review of Thai Square Spa - A Restorative Thai Spa Experience

Let’s be honest, in a city that never stops buzzing, stumbling upon a spa that delivers indulgence and tranquility is a hidden luxury worth sharing. I visited Thai Square Spa on Northumberland Avenue, just a five-minute stroll from Charing Cross station and a stones throw from Trafalga Square. I went in search of some serious zen, and trust me, it did not disappoint.

Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a former Victorian Turkish bath, now transformed into a haven of opulence with a blend of Thai, Roman, and Turkish vibes. Think flickering candlelight, soothing tunes, and an atmosphere so peaceful you’ll forget you’re just minutes from the chaos of central London.

For the ultimate treat-yourself moment, I had the Sen Space all to myself,

private spa goals achieved! I hopped between the jacuzzi pool, sauna, steam chamber, and even braved the ice fountain (hello, instant wake-up call) before sinking into the dreamy Thai meditation and Roman relaxation zones. It’s pure bliss, honestly. The hot-cold ritual is like a reset button for your body, leaving you feeling brand new.

After floating out of the Sen Space, my lovely therapist Jane whisked me away (with a cup of Bael fruit tea, naturally) to a therapy room decked out with stunning Thai wall carvings. First up: a traditional thai rose footbath followed by a back massage that melted away every last bit of London stress (thanks to Jane’s therapeutic touch). Then the Royal Golden Maharani Facial, think 24- carat gold, collagen-boosting magic, and a head and shoulder massage to really leave me in relaxation bliss. If you’re after that golden glow (and a serious pamper), the Golden Maharani Facial is the perefect treatment.

Thai Square Spa also offers Body treatments, Facial treatments, Scalp and Foot treatments, Maternity therapies, jet-lag fixes for travellers and all the wet treatments you could dream of. As well as curated packages to couples packages, every ritual is designed to soothe your senses and leave you floating out the door. Inspired by ancient healing, it’s the perfect escape from the daily London hustle.

Thai Spa brings all the serenity of a far-flung retreat right to the heart of London, no passport required. Book your escape HERE.

Ping Pong’s Bento Box offering – Review

Our recent lunch excursion to Ping Pong Soho, centered around the much-talked-about Bento Box offering, exceeded all expectations. Despite the time constraints of city working life, the efficient service and prompt arrival of our dishes ensured a delightful experience without feeling rushed. Upon entering the restaurant, we were ushered to a semi-circle high table with a captivating view of the bustling surroundings through floor-to-ceiling windows adorned with vibrant Chinese upside-down umbrellas. Being midday, the restaurant was expectedly quiet, however, this did not last long, and diners started to quickly fill the restaurant throughout the lunch period.

The Bento Box menu, briefly explained to us by our waiter featured a well-thought-out selection process using cards and pencils. The menu structure, starting with fixed servings followed by dumplings and mains, provided a streamlined ordering experience. The addition of barcodes on the cards for allergen and nutritional information was a thoughtful touch.

Our Fixed Servings included steamed jasmine rice, edamame with celery salt, and vegetable spring rolls accompanied by an array of flavourful dips. The seafood dumplings, served piping hot in a bamboo pot, were a delightful choice among the enticing options of chicken gyoza and spinach & mushroom dumplings. For our mains, the soy-marinated chicken skewer won over the chicken katsu by a slight margin.

The flavours of each dish were exceptional, with a few drops of Ping Pong’s homemade soy sauce, even elevated the jasmine rice to a tasty treat. The act of extracting the edamame beans from skins added a satisfying touch to the overall experience.

As someone accustomed to the routine of grabbing a standard ciabatta sandwich meal for lunch, Ping Pong’s Bento Box emerged as a revelation—a quick, incredibly tasty, and reasonably priced alternative. The experience has firmly placed this restaurant on my radar for future lunchtime escapades. I eagerly anticipate returning to explore more of Ping Pong’s offerings, confident that the quality and efficiency of their service will continue to impress.

Lunch Bento Box priced at £11.95, available Mon- Fri 12-5pm.

Locations: Soho, Southbank, St Christophers Place, St Katherines Docks and St Pauls.
