Luxmuralis returns to the Old Royal Naval College, bringing ancient civilisations to life with Lost Worlds

This autumn, the Old Royal Naval College will be transformed after dark as Luxmuralis presents Lost Worlds, a spectacular new light and sound installation inspired by the myths, civilisations and natural wonders of the ancient world. Created by acclaimed artist Peter Walker with an original score by composer David Harper, the experience brings the Etruscans, Egyptians, Romans, Mayans and Anglo-Saxons to life through immersive projection, colour and sound.

At the heart of the installation is the magnificent Painted Hall. Three hundred years after Sir James Thornhill completed its celebrated artwork, Walker reimagines its iconic imagery through bespoke projections, turning Sir Christopher Wren’s architecture into a spectacular canvas of light. Ancient maps, astronomical knowledge, illuminated manuscripts, mythical kingdoms and fantastical creatures unfold across the historic buildings, creating a vivid journey through history, mythology and imagination.

The installation also reflects Greenwich’s maritime heritage, exploring themes of navigation, exploration and voyages into the unknown.

Combining cutting edge digital art with the Old Royal Naval College’s extraordinary architecture, Lost Worlds offers visitors a chance to experience this UNESCO World Heritage Site in a completely new light.

Families, get ready for an amazing treat from Dalloway Terrace at The Bloomsbury Hotel, who have launched a delightful new afternoon tea experience that is perfect for little ones. Renowned for its beautiful interior and wonderful atmosphere, Dalloway Terrace is the ideal spot for family gatherings.

Upon arrival, children can spot gorgeous bumblebee-themed plates by Emma Bridgewater, and will be welcomed with a refreshing mocktail, a fun activity book and a packet of UK wildflower seeds to help support bee populations.

Menu highlights for kids include:

Finger Sandwiches: Crustless sandwiches with fillings including mild cheddar, honey roast ham, and cucumber.

Scones: Perfectly fluffy vanilla and sultana buttermilk scones

Sweet Treats: Beehive shortbread, a milk chocolate bumblebee lollipop, and a ‘blooming’ good vanilla cupcake.

Menu highlights for adults include:

Finger Sandwiches: Roast beef and horseradish, harissa and apricot chicken, cucumber and cream cheese, and egg mayonnaise with watercress.

Scones: Irish cheddar scones with sundried tomato butter and sweet vanilla and sultana buttermilk scones with homemade strawberry and prosecco conserve.

Desserts: Earl Grey and blackberry dome, lemon and poppy seed choux, pistachio and vanilla Battenberg cake, peach melba tart, and a salted caramel madeleine.

After afternoon tea, families can explore The Bloomsbury in a complimentary 60-minute treasure hunt. Children who complete the hunt can present their maps to the Concierge for a special surprise.

£25 per child and £48 per adult, available on weekends and during school holidays from 12-4pm. For an extra touch of luxury, choose the Champagne Afternoon Tea at £65 per adult, featuring a glass of Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve.
