Romeo & Juliet is coming to Brixton Windmill
The Dot Collective has teamed up with Open Bar Theatre, both celebrating 10 wonderful years of bringing professional open-air performances to community spaces. They are reuniting for Shakespeare's most celebrated classic love story, Romeo and Juliet and they've chosen the perfect setting for it. Staged in the shadow of the Brixton windmill on a warm July evening, this production places Romeo and Juliet inside the colour and chaos of a 16th-century Italian carnival, with live atmosphere, immersive staging and the kind of theatrical energy that only outdoor performance can sustain.
As the light fades and the story unfolds, the windmill itself becomes part of the spectacle. "These violent delights have violent ends" — but the evening itself promises something altogether more joyful. It's designed to be an occasion as much as a show. Bring a picnic, grab an ice cream from the on-site café, and settle in for 90 minutes of passion, drama and midsummer magic, with a 20-minute interval to top up your drink.
Recommended for ages 5+. Accessible. Well-behaved dogs on leads welcome.
