Review of Velvet Tacos at Broadgate

The team at The Capturist are always on the hunt for the best Taco joint in London. Velvet Taco throws out the rules when it comes to traditional tacos, and that's exactly what makes it exciting. We visited on a freezing cold evening and were instantly fired up by the spicy flavours, neon vibes and genuinely friendly service. This fast-casual spot transforms international flavours into inventive, made-from-scratch tacos that genuinely feel like a culinary trip around the world with no passport required.

The menu goes well beyond standard Tex-Mex fare... We visited to try the Velvet Bowls which includes three tempting new salads. We choose the Spicy Tikka Chicken, Mexi-Cali Prawns and Protein Bowl with a choice of barbacoa brisket, roasted veggies, pulled pork or rotisserie chicken and the brisket and Mexi Cali Prawns and we were delighted with the delicious flavours and textures.

Each dish has a really well-seasoned, fresh base of buttered coriander rice and is loaded with smooth guacamole, roasted corn pico, chimichurri and the hero on top, smothered with delicious sriracha aioli and mayo. No taco or cheese in sight as these bowls are all under 1500 calories, perfect for those on a health kick! They are completely moreish despite the spice, and we cannot wait to go back and try more dishes.

This spot is a great addition to the area with plenty of drinks and snacks to tempt you as well as the incredible signature Red Velvet Cake which we saw being portioned up. Velvet Taco has been opened for only three months, so grab a table now before everyone gets on board!
