Celebrate South London's Heritage with Babur's 'Together In Bloom' Menu at The Horniman museum
This summer, two of South London's most cherished institutions come together to celebrate remarkable milestones with a unique culinary collaboration. Award-winning Indian restaurant Babur marks its 41st anniversary by partnering with the iconic Horniman Museum and Gardens, which celebrates its 125th anniversary, to launch Together In Bloom, a limited-edition menu inspired by the beauty and biodiversity of the Horniman's celebrated gardens.
Available from 17 July until 20 September, the exclusive menu has been created by Babur's Executive Chef Jiwan Laland Head Mixologist Rupam Talukdar, drawing inspiration from the herbs, botanicals and sustainable planting found throughout the Horniman's 16 acres of award-winning gardens.
Expect Babur's signature Indian flavours infused with fragrant garden ingredients including wild lavender, cat mint, thyme and rosemary, creating a seasonal menu that celebrates the connection between food, nature and South London's rich cultural heritage. Guests can enjoy the dishes as either a specially curated tasting menu or choose from an à la carte selection throughout the summer.

The collaboration was inspired by a visit to the Horniman Gardens by Babur founder Emdad Rahman, alongside Chef Jiwan Lal, Head Mixologist Rupam Talukdar and the Horniman's Head of Horticulture, Errol Fernandes. The experience sparked the idea of creating dishes inspired by plants grown within the local community, resulting in a menu that pays tribute to both the restaurant's longstanding roots in Forest Hill and one of the area's most beloved cultural landmarks.
To accompany the menu, Babur has also launched a limited-edition Together In Bloom Cocktail Gift Set (£12.95), featuring two bottled cocktails inspired by the Horniman Gardens. The gift set will be available to purchase at Babur, via the restaurant's website, and in the Horniman Museum and Gardens gift shop throughout the anniversary celebrations.
Established in 1985, Babur has become one of London's most respected Indian restaurants, earning a loyal following over four decades, two AA Rosettes, recognition among the UK's Top 100 Curry Restaurants for five consecutive years, and the title of Best Restaurant at the Mayor of Lewisham Business Awards 2025.
Whether you're planning a summer visit to the Horniman Museum or looking for an exceptional dining experience in South London, Together In Bloom offers the perfect opportunity to celebrate two local institutions while enjoying an inventive menu inspired by the gardens that have delighted Londoners for generations.
