One of the world’s most powerful photography exhibitions is returning to London this month, bringing with it an extraordinary collection of images documenting the people, places and events that have shaped the past year.
The World Press Photo Exhibition 2026 opens on Friday 21st August at the new MPB Gallery on Bermondsey Street, just a few minutes’ walk from London Bridge Station. Widely regarded as the world’s most prestigious showcase of photojournalism and documentary photography, World Press Photo is always a fascinating and often deeply moving. The photos tell stories, capture moments in history and offer a glimpse into lives and events taking place across the world.
Last year alone, the touring exhibition attracted more than four million visitors across over 80 cities, making it one of the most widely seen annual photography exhibitions in the world.
This year’s London exhibition brings together work from 42 award-winning photographers, selected from an extraordinary 57,376 photographs submitted by 3,747 photographers across 141 countries.
An independent jury of 31 photography and journalism professionals chose the winners, looking for work that not only demonstrates exceptional photography but also adds depth and understanding to some of the most important stories of our time.
At a moment when we are surrounded by an almost constant stream of images, there is something particularly powerful about seeing these photographs exhibited, taking the time to stop, look and understand the story behind each one.
Our tip: Allow yourself plenty of time. This really isn’t an exhibition to rush through, much of the power lies in reading the stories behind the photographs as well as seeing the images themselves.
Dates: Friday 21st August – Wednesday 30th September 2026
Where: MPB Gallery, 42–44 Bermondsey Street, London SE1 3UD
