The Hoxton Amsterdam unveils a stylish new chapter on the Herengracht

A decade after opening its doors on one of Amsterdam’s most picturesque canals, The Hoxton has revealed a beautiful new look, bringing fresh energy to its historic surroundings. Occupying five characterful canal houses on the Herengracht, The Hoxton Amsterdam has long been a favourite meeting place for locals and visitors alike. Now, ten years on, the hotel has undergone a thoughtful transformation, with redesigned interiors, a refreshed restaurant and bar, and five distinctive new Signature Rooms.

The redesign, led by AIME Studios, takes inspiration from Dutch craftsmanship, mid-century design and the geometric influences of the De Stijl movement. Rich materials, warm textures and carefully considered details create an inviting balance between contemporary style and the building’s historic character. At the heart of the transformation is Lotti’s Bar, reimagined with stained oak, polished nickel, rosso marble and elegant bentwood chairs. New seating overlooking the canal offers an appealing spot for morning coffee or an evening cocktail, while the adjoining restaurant has been given a more intimate, relaxed feel.

The hotel's much-loved Apartment, its collection of private meeting and event spaces, has also been refreshed. Terracotta tiles, oak joinery, marble finishes and vintage-inspired furnishings bring a welcoming, residential charm, complemented by artwork from Amsterdam’s Bijou Gallery.

There’s something new on the menu, too. A collaboration with local favourite Uncommon introduces speciality coffee and freshly baked pastries to Lotti’s daytime offering. As evening approaches, the mood shifts towards cocktails, dinner and DJs.

For those planning an Amsterdam escape, five newly reimagined Signature Rooms offer an extra touch of individuality. Each has its own story, from a former mayor’s bedroom with original 17th-century features to a room with a private courtyard terrace. Thoughtful additions, including vinyl turntables, luxurious bathrobes and carefully selected local touches, complete the experience. With its refreshed interiors and unmistakable neighbourhood spirit, The Hoxton Amsterdam begins its next decade with a renewed sense of style, while remaining firmly connected to the city it calls home.
