Review of Dallas in Shoreditch

Bringing a slice of Lisbon’s laidback burger culture to Shoreditch, Dallas offers a modern East London take on the traditional burger joint. Taking over a former local pub, the cult-favourite spot pairs wooden tables, dim globe lighting and a striking feature bar with nostalgic touches that give the space plenty of character. Known for its no frills approach to burgers and neighbourhood centric ethos, the Shoreditch outpost brings a relaxed spirit to an area shaped by independent businesses, creative spaces and a constantly evolving food scene.

We kicked things off with the Truffle Mushroom Burger, opting to swap the usual 165g beef patty for a vegan alternative. Topped with Swiss cheese, rocket, sautéed mushrooms and truffle mayo on the original menu, the burger combines earthy mushroom flavours with the richness of truffle. The vegan patty offered a plant based alternative of the original offered on the menu, available on all burgers it’s a refreshing approach to catering for vegans without just offering one simple option.

On the side, we ordered crispy French fries with Dallas’ vegan sauce. A straightforward pairing, the fries provided a lovely crunch, and the vegan sauce added an added moreish layer of flavour. Dallas’ concise but strong menu is great to see, not making burgers more complicated than they need to be and focusing on having less options but focusing on making them truly delicious.

With its relaxed interiors, neighbourhood feel and straightforward approach to comfort food, Dallas makes a welcome addition to Shoreditch. It brings a little of Lisbon’s casual dining culture to East London, offering a laidback spot for a burger and fries without the fuss.

SAMPLE: London’s Urban Design Market Returns For Spring 2022

Greenwich Peninsula’s design market, SAMPLE returns on 2nd of April. The design market celebrates the creative diversity of London, bringing the best of the city’s designers and creators across fashion, food, homeware, beauty and wellness together for a weekend. The market provides a platform and an interactive community for emerging creatives and small independent brands attracting more than 15,000 design-lovers from all over the world since it first launched.

Visitors to SAMPLE Spring 2022 will have the chance to experience:

Emerging talent from all aspects of design
Exclusive fashion pieces and accessories from emerging designers
Interactive workshops catering to all members of the family
Street food from Design District’s food hub, Canteen
Live music from SAMPLE’s resident DJs

As well as exploring SAMPLE, visitors to the Peninsula can discover the newest young artist commission for 2022 at NOW Gallery: Feeling Good by Joy Yamusangie. A fictional jazz club showcasing a series of paintings on paper and fabric, inspired by the ephemeral conversations and moments inside the club. Additionally, the Tide showcases incredible sculptural pieces by the likes of Damien Hirst, Gary Hume and Allen Jones.

Catering for the culinary adventurous, Design District’s new global street food hall, Canteen, also hosts an exciting range of food for everyone to enjoy. SAMPLE is set to be a truly unique experience, offering the ultimate day out for the fashion-forward, foodies, leisure-seekers, families and residents alike.
