Review of the pancakes at The Table

The Capturist had a great preview of "London's Best Pancakes" ahead of Shrove Tuesday at The Table Southwark. This award winning brunch spot is buzzy, light and perfect for people watching with seats inside and out.

The pancake menu is wonderfully extensive with all bases covered whether you like light and fruity, more of an English breakfast vibe or all out with eggs and fried chicken. You can add any side to your pancakes from honey to avocado to hash browns.

Our host was exceptional and kept our flat whites topped up and we took their valued recommendations. We opted for the bacon and banana stack : three fluffy pancakes with honeyed bananas and crispy maple bacon with syrup drizzled over and a delicious side of yoghurt with blueberries.

This really was a great combo of sweet and savoury and the yoghurt was a nice contrast to the sugar.  We also tried the fried chicken pancakes topped with an egg and smashed avocado - and hash browns on the side. The chicken was breadcrumbed and tender with the savoury avocado really lending itself well to the dish.

The service was excellent and the place was full on our visit. Definitely one for Shrove Tuesday

The Table has branches in Southwark and Battersea, on Shrove Tuesday, pancakes are only £10.00. Battersea is open specially on Pancake Day evening for the £10 pancakes!
