Silent Discos at Woolwich Works this August

If your ideal summer evening involves live music, dancing and plenty of laughs, Woolwich Works has something a little different planned.

On Saturday 1 August, the South East London venue welcomes Silent Disco Global for a day of music-filled events that swap booming speakers for wireless headphones. The result? Hundreds of people dancing together while each listens to their own chosen soundtrack.

The day begins with a Family Silent Disco from 3pm, where children and grown-ups can jump between three music channels featuring Disney favourites, Marvel soundtracks, children's hits and songs that parents will happily sing along to. Later, from 7pm, the courtyard becomes a giant outdoor dance floor for adults. Three live DJs take control of separate channels, covering everything from chart-toppers and indie favourites to disco, R&B and nostalgic party anthems. Switching between them is as simple as pressing a button on your headphones, meaning every guest can shape their own night without ever leaving the dancefloor.

Silent Disco Global is no stranger to remarkable settings, having staged events at world-famous landmarks including the Natural History Museum and Marina Bay Sands. Their arrival at Woolwich Works adds another highlight to the venue's packed programme of outdoor summer events.

Expect colourful headphones and plenty of impromptu karaoke moments.

Family-friendly afternoon Disco session - Saturday 1st August 3pm - 5pm -Tickets: Early Bird £23.50, Standard £27.50, Family Ticket £80 - Bring the whole family to dance away the afternoon to all the kids' Disney, and Marvel favourites.

A full-scale evening party for adults - Saturday 1st August from 7pm - 10pm- just bring your dancing shoes (LED headphones provided by the venue) for a full-on party from 7–10pm.

Old Queen Street Cafe – Weekend Brunch Review

We recently had the opportunity to visit Old Queen Street Cafe to try out their weekend brunch menu, located a few minutes from Westminster Abbey. Inside the Old Queen Street Cafe is charming and cosy, with a touch of vintage elegance. It has a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes it an ideal spot to enjoy a leisurely meal.

I opted for the Veggie Breakfast, which was a delightful surprise! The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, accompanying the poached eggs were grilled tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms, and grilled halloumi cheese. The mushrooms added a savoury earthiness and the tomatoes provided a burst of freshness. Overall, the veggie breakfast was a delicious and satisfying choice.

My guest opted for Fish and Chips, a classic British dish that I couldn’t resist trying. The fish was tender and flaky, enveloped in a light and crispy batter that had a beautiful golden colour. The chips were wonderfully crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Accompanying the dish was a side of mushy peas, which added a lovely contrast of texture and a hint of sweetness. The portion size was generous, ensuring that we left the cafe feeling satisfied.

To finish off we shared the Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream, a very rich, creamy and smooth dessert, the perfect dish to end our meal.

Overall, our experience at the Old Queen Cafe was delightful, the food was delicious and the cafe’s welcoming ambience and attentive service added to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
