Michelin-Starred Chef Woongchul Park brings Korean Fried Chicken to Flat Iron Square

Michelin-Starred Chef Woongchul Park brings Korean Fried Chicken to Flat Iron Square

Korean fried chicken is getting a Michelin-starred makeover at Flat Iron Square, where chef Woongchul Park has launched Papa Dak, a new casual concept inspired by his Korean heritage and love of seriously good fried chicken. Park, chef-owner of Michelin-starred Sollip in London Bridge has swapped fine dining for something altogether more indulgent, creating a compact menu centred around crispy, double-fried chicken and bold Korean flavours.

The headline act comes in two varieties, both topped with rice crisps for extra crunch. Korean Red (£12) takes its cues from classic yangnyeom chicken, coated in a sticky, sweet and spicy glaze, while Guinness Black (£13) offers an unexpected London twist with a deep, savoury Guinness glaze. Elsewhere, So-Tok So-Tok skewers (£5) pair smoked sausage with chewy Korean rice cakes, while sides include Kole-Slaw with carrot, fish sauce, Korean chilli and sesame, plus garlic and ginger Pickled Kohlrabi. Bringing friends? The Korean Feast (£36) serves four with both chicken flavours, skewers and sides.

Even the name has family at its heart: ‘Dak’ means chicken in Korean, while the crowned chicken logo was created by Park and his wife and business partner Bomee's children. Now serving at Flat Iron Square, Borough, Papa Dak brings Michelin-level know-how to the gloriously messy world of Korean fried chicken – and we're very much here for it.

Address: Flat Iron Square, 45 Southwark Street, London, SE1 9HP

Exciting new canned cocktails from Whitebox

Brand-new canned cocktail company, Whitebox, is creating quite the stir, having recently launched in September, providing us with eight new and exciting ‘better canned cocktails’.

The success of The ‘Pocket Negroni’ (a 100ml Negroni in a can) lead to the creation of a new range of drinks. You’ll see some innovative creations and twists on classic cocktails as well as collaborations with some of the most renowned cocktail bars from around the world.

The extended cocktails range has been created with a bespoke production process in mind and a unique approach to ingredients to bring truly exceptional cocktails to the British public. Whitebox has tried to avoid a ‘rinse and repeat’ approach of canning the cocktails and have approached each cocktail as if it were a blank can-vas.

The new selection boasts several classics including a Chippers Cherry Wood Old Fashioned and Freezer Martini! Whitebox also offers a selection of long serves – these convenience cocktails prioritise quality, and there’s something for everyone, so let’s crack open a can!

Available to buy on the Whitebox website: https://whiteboxdrinks.com
