Victory Park, East Village, invites Londoners to pause, reflect and get creative

Now open in Victory Park, Reflections I is a large-scale, interactive artwork by artist Russ Jones, brought to the neighbourhood by Get Living. The striking 2.4-metre mirrored cube sits quietly within the park, encouraging passers-by to stop and take part. Running until 2 February 2026, the installation arrives at a time when many are thinking about fresh starts and new intentions for the year ahead.

Designed to be used rather than simply observed, Reflections I features four mirrored sides, each prompting a different kind of engagement. Visitors are invited to write what they love about themselves, respond to the playful question “Is this art?”, leave a doodle or message, or mark a favourite local spot on a map of East London.

As more people contribute, the mirrored surfaces gradually transform, becoming layered with colour, thoughts and drawings. Over time, the cube evolves into a collective portrait, a joyful record of creativity, connection and shared optimism.

Set within East Village’s 25 acres of parks and wetlands, the installation reflects the area’s community-led ethos. Home to more than 1,900 rental homes, independent retailers and creative spaces such as The Lab E20 and Refill Therapy, East Village blends green space with city energy and a strong sense of neighbourhood.
