Cavo: A Culinary Journey through the Mediterranean – Review

Mediterranean restaurant Cavo is a hidden gem situated in the Now building, right near Tottenham Court Road station, taking diners on a delightful journey through the flavors of the Mediterranean. From the moment you step inside, the inviting decor and the big open rooftop terrace creates an atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. The rooftop terrace is perfect for an alfresco dining experience, view views of the bustling streets of Bloomsbury and Covent Garden.

Perfect for a romantic evening or a gathering with friends during the day. The menu at Cavo is a celebration of Mediterranean cuisine, showcasing an impressive range of seafood, meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes. Each plate is prepared using fresh, high-quality ingredients, incorporating traditional flavours and innovative twists.

To start we shared the olives and Padron peppers, which were beautifully charred and glistening with olive oil, with a generous sprinkling of flakes of sea salt. Two very enjoyable appetizers to whet our appetite.

Moving on to the main course, we indulged in the Orecchiette Pasta which came with roasted tomatoes, olive, capers and basil, the dish was a true celebration of Mediterranean simplicity and sophistication.

The Vegetable platter was like no other veggie dish I’ve tried before. The platter was elegantly arranged, showcasing a variety of seasonal vegetables, From aubergine to marinated artichoke hearts to charred asparagus, each vegetable adding its own unique texture and flavor to the ensemble. The sweetness from the vegetables creates a beautiful sweet caramelised juice and the rose petals added beauty and a little flavoured texture. A healthy, flavoursome dish that left us fully satisfied but yet wanting more!

For dessert, we had the Sicilian Almond Crumble, another standout dish! Creamy, sweet and mouth-watering, it left us wanting more! The food is incredible and the service at Cavo was attentive and friendly, with staff members who spoke about the menu with such enthusiasm and passion. Cavo is a culinary oasis in the bustling city of London, offering a journey through the vibrant flavours of the Mediterranean. It is definitely one of my top three restaurants in Central London, and I didn’t even taste the incredible seafood… So that says a lot!

Cavo is an absolute must-visit restaurant that will leave you with lasting memories of exceptional flavours and warm hospitality.
