Review of Café Solo Coffee Liqueur & Espresso Martini in a Can
Espresso martinis and White Russians are always my go-to cocktails on nights out, so when I had the chance to sample Café Solo’s Coffee Liqueur & Espresso Martini in a can, I jumped at it. After a long, tiring Friday, it felt like the perfect time to try something that would give me a bit of a pick-me-up.
I took the can of Espresso Martini out of the fridge, gave it a good shake (as recommended for that classic frothy top), and poured it into one of my fancy martini glasses. First impression? If you're serious about coffee in your espresso martini, you have to try this. It’s all about the coffee and let me tell you—it will perk you right up!
The intense coffee flavour hits you immediately both the caffeine and the alcohol came through strong, delivering a much needed boost of energy. It's bold and rich, thanks to the Brazilian and Colombian speciality beans used in the blend from UK-based coffee makers, SOLO. The cold brew base delivers a full-bodied, authentic coffee experience with just a hint of sweetness so the coffee remains front and centre. If you're a true espresso lover, this is a hit!. However, this cocktail is potent, and while I loved the boost, I’m not sure I could have more than one or two of these in a row.
For my second drink, I decided to mix Café Solo Coffee Liqueur with vodka and a splash of milk to make one of my all-time favourite cocktails—the White Russian. While the result was definitely smooth and drinkable, it didn’t quite pack the same punch as the coffee liqueur I usually use in this cocktail. It still brings that signature bold coffee flavour but when mixed with the creamy elements of a White Russian, it seems to lose a bit of its intensity and felt somewhat muted. However, for those who enjoy a smoother take on the drink, Café Solo liqueur still makes for an enjoyable and easy-to-drink option.
All in all, Café Solo's Espresso Martini in a can is a winner for anyone who loves a coffee-forward cocktail. Just be ready for that caffeinated buzz!
