LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW dark chocolate liquorice tart exclusively at Harvey Nichols

Savour the taste of sweet luxury with Danish confectionary brand LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW - special dark chocolate liquorice tart as part of Harvey Nichols’ festive winter menu. Available now until the 28th December.

Great for all occasions, the Fifth Floor Café & Restaurant offers fresh seasonal fare and all-day dining in an informal chic atmosphere. Located on the top floor of the famed department store, this light and airy contemporary space comprises several dining areas and a bar, plus an all-year outside terrace with stunning views across Knightsbridge.

We visited on a frosty December evening, so we opted to stay inside, but heaters and blankets are provided on the terrace for slightly less chilly days or those with warmer blood!

The restaurant serves a modern European menu incorporating a decent mix of small plates and salads, in addition to more hearty main courses, with familiar favourites and classic dishes such as Caesar salad and a sumptuous Wagu cheeseburger. As it was a wintery evening, we opted for something substantial and warming. We chose to go al la carte, but the restaurant offers a very reasonably priced seasonal dining menu, including a glass of HN prosecco.

Our food arrived promptly, and the staff were attentive, but not overly so, making us feel looked after but able to relax and unwind. For my starter, I lucked out with the most delicious pumpkin blue cheese toast with walnuts; these powerful flavours complement each other so well that every mouthful feels indulgent.

Alongside this incredibly filling small plate, we tried the cured salmon with horseradish potato and Nasturtium, a lighter dish, which still packs a taste bud punch but is good for those who want to save room for their main course.

Up next were dishes from the large plate menu, with both of us choosing the haddock, mussels and samphire. I’m a fan of fish with crispy skin, and this was just the ticket, with soft, flaky meat surrounded by fresh mussels and decorated with delicate samphire and finely chopped vegetables. This paired beautifully with my crisp, oaky NZ Sauvignon Blanc, served at just the right temperature.

Dessert followed with the delicious LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW dark chocolate tart, a dessert we were really looking forward too/ A stunning sweet treat, visually festive and deeply opulent. The rich dark chocolate filling, combined with tangy cranberry curd, is sensational, topped with redwood sorel. It arrived with a small tub of LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW liquorice chocolates, which we opened and lightly scattered around the tart to indulge in as well. The combination of sweet liquorice and soft dulce chocolate is a winning combination. If you’re not normally a fan of liquorice, don’t be put off, this recipe is quite unique and certainly nothing like not your average Liquorice Allsorts!

LAKRIDS BY BÜLOW is a luxury independent brand created by Johan Bulow, to update the often-overlooked Scandinavian favourite - liquorice. With a range of indulgent original flavours on offer, their product range has expanded into some novel taste sensations, including sour strawberry, caramel and frozen mint, to name but a few. Alongside their amazing tart, the confectionary range is available to purchase in Harvey Nichols food hall – the perfect stocking filler for gourmet chocolate lovers.

Address: 5th Floor at Harvey Nichols, 109 – 125 Knightsbridge, London, SW1X 7RJ
